The Halfway Inn
Situated in the heart of West Berkshire on the Bath Road, Halfway is given its name as it is halfway between Bristol and London on the historic coaching route between the two major cities.
The Halfway Inn dates back to the 1800’s as a historic coaching inn where the horses were given a well-deserved rest during their long journey. No doubt the coach masters may have had a drink or two at the same time!
History has it that the pub may have had a number of names before it ended up as The Halfway Inn. The Old Green Man is amongst the names given and there may be some reference to him today in the pub.
Halfway is just four miles from the market town of Newbury. Hungerford and its plethora of antiquities is just five miles away and the beautiful town of Marlborough is a further eight miles to the west.
To this day, the pub sits near the heart of The Valley of The Racehorse and nestled neatly between Lambourn and Newbury. So, it is with no surprise that our logo and brand reflects that of a horse.
The pub is independently owned and run by Nick & Jo Moreton, who have lived locally for 25 years and both have a proven track record in hospitality. Nick, Jo and their team want you to experience nothing more than that of a simple goal... great food and drink, served by great people! There are comfy sofa-like chairs in the bar area along with bar snacks served alongside their own Halfway ale and lager. Premuim brand lagers are also available with draught cider and Guinness.
The Halfway Inn has also created it's unique blend of coffee that offers a smooth, rich and great tasting coffee to complement the other high quality products on offer.
In the summer months there is a large patio and garden area, where a special outside menu will be on offer during certain days. Grilled meats, shawarmas and exquisite salads will be on offer along with gourmet pizzas cooked in the outdoor wood-fired oven.
