The Akeman Inn

The Akeman Inn, named after the ancient Roman road upon which it resides (Akeman Street), was once a vital post for mail and stagecoaches on the main route from London to Cirencester, Cheltenham and Bath. For 200 years from the mid-17th century, this lovely coaching inn served weary travellers, staff and horses alike with refreshments and a bed for the night on long and arduous journeys. The Akeman Inn offers a welcome that is easy and relaxed - a journey's end... Something of a retreat for neighbours and newcomers, ramblers and explorers alike. Enjoy a drink or two in the comfort of the bar, or put your feet up in the coffee lounge. There is also plenty to love about the modern restaurant, but what seems to capture most of the guests' attention is the wood-fired pizza oven wafting temptingly as you sit down to dinner. There is plenty to discover on the Mediterranean-influenced menu, from the handmade pizzas to pasta, fish, meat and sharing platters.
