Bringing African food to Poole in a stylish yet traditional way using time honoured cooking methods, wrapped up with first class dining service, striking design and an accessible atmosphere, Zim offers the vibrant and diverse food and culture drawn from Southern Africa with heavy influences from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique and Malawi as well as the south eastern islands of Mauritius, the Seychelles, Madagascar and the Spice Island of Zanzibar. A traditional wood-charcoal Braai is the main focal point of the kitchen: it provides huge versatility to cook a wide range of grilled meats and fish. Cast iron Potjies allow for traditional stews and curries to be cooked and presented in a unique way. This is blended with traditional sides, vibrant and superfood salads for truly new and “good for you” food.

by This is seriously worth a visit! on 18 Jan 2019
This was our first visit, as I suspect for many, & sort of expecting the usual OTT ethnic stuff, but what a pleasant surprise! The decor etc is just spot on. Enough to let you know that this is different, but not overstated. As a Saffa I was intrigued to see how they would cope with some of the rather odd African fare, but, once again, spot on. Some of the favourite yapie stuff like Boerewors, potjies (a cast iron, 3 legged pot that are used to cook everything from missionaries to a stew), chakalaka, & even koeksusters! I had my favourite Ox-tail, which was just ridiculously good. The service was first-class; good wine list & all surprisingly well priced. Get there & find out about all those odd dishes! I will be in the corner with another serving of Ox-tail!

Lovely to finally be able to access this cuisine in Poole. Nice atmosphere & good / friendly (if a little slow) service. Quite pricey, esp. once sides are added. Vegan given salad dressing with honey in -> #fail!

The food was delicious and very different from what other restaurants offer. The waitress who explained about all the South African dishes, was very entertaining. We will definitely be back soon.
