L'Assiette is located on Belle Vue Road within 5 minutes walk from the picturesque beaches of Southbourne and only a short drive from the historic town of Christchurch. With stunning Dorset surroundings and fantastic produce to choose from, L'Assiette hopes to give the south coast a new and exciting dining experience. L'Assiette's Head Chef Helene Valera is Senegalese born and trained in classical French gastronomy. Helene started her career in kitchens when she began her apprenticeship at 14 years of age in 2 rosette restaurant La Potiniere in Burgundy. Helene spent 5 years training under the tutelage of John Cavalli, enabling her to develop and learn traditional French cuisine. During this apprenticeship she was able to achieve the highest awards and accolades including the best apprentice in the county. After this Helene spent 2 years in Versailles to complete her training. She then relocated to the UK to gain more experience and worked in several rosette restaurants within London and the East Anglia to further improve her knowledge. The concept of L'Assiette has always been to offer the best of home cooked, stylish and interesting modern dishes. We try to source as much local and seasonal produce as we can utilising the amazing south coast fish and Dorset meats. With a maximum amount of covers being 28 L'Assiette is ideal for any celebration parties as the restaurant can be hired for private functions.
