My wife and I were on a weekend break to Lewes and wanted somewhere different to eat in the evening,having spent time looking through trip advisor we chose Limetree Kitchen.The whole experience was a pleasure the friendly staff offering suggestions on both food and drink,the enjoyable atmosphere and the lovely food we could share between us.This truly was a refreshing change from the normal restaurant format and we will defiantly return thanks to all the staff.

What a fantastic meal! Alex and his team aren’t afraid to test the boundaries and invite their diners to try new and exciting ingredients, all of which have been cooked to perfection and creatively served. I thought we were daring to order the pig’s head croquettes but they were divine and we could easily have eaten another portion. The house kimchi also opened our eyes and has influenced how we will make our next batch at home. We also devoured the onion pakora, yellow curried hake and perfectly in-season purple sprouting broccoli. The waiting staff were warm and genuine, keen to engage with us and discuss the menu. A younger member of staff needs more training to get up to scratch, but it was his first service and we’ve all been there! This is an establishment for those who appreciate good food, want to know its provenance and respect the skilled chefs who elevate it. Lewes doesn’t know how lucky it is to have such a gem of a restaurant in its midst!

Service cheerful but haphazard. £7.80 for a serving of purple sprouting broccoli a bit steep, also didn’t work being served as a dish on its own, would have been better as an accompaniment. Panna cotta pudding disappointing. Having to get up to look at blackboard menu annyoying!

An easy environment for a catch up with friend accompanied by great service and fabulous flavours from the food
