The Sun Inn (Dedham)
Located at the heart of Dedham, The Sun Inn has been a watering hole for villagers and resting post for travellers for centuries. These days, it is much the same. An ideal spot to revive yourself be it with a pint of craft beer, a meal using fine East Anglian produce or a good night’s sleep.
Indulge in food influenced by seasons, locally grown and convivially served. Graze at the bar, feast in the dining room or take a picnic while you explore. The menu varies throughout the month with fish off Mersea day boats, meat from rare breed animals, wild game in season and vegetables and fruit the morning they’re picked. The bread is freshly baked before your meal. On Sundays a delicious roast is served alongside the full menu and a kid’s menu or smaller portions are available at weekends and school holidays.
Independently owned and run since 2003, The Sun Inn is a proper coaching inn with an elm bar, an open dining room, a snug oak panelled lounge all with open fires, exposed timbers, thick beams and meandering floors, it is easy to be cosseted in this ancient inn. Keep warm by the fires, stay cool on the terrace, all year round there is somewhere to unwind. Overlooked by St Mary’s Church tower, the garden has its own bar.
Seven beautiful en suite bedrooms, all individually decorated with sumptuous beds and linen, free WI-FI, digital televisions and other treats are also available.
