The Mulberry Tree is a contemporary country restaurant and bar with a relaxed, informal atmosphere, excellent food, wine and service. It is set in the beautiful Kent countryside, only 4 miles from Staplehurst and has been extended and modernised to offer a restaurant and bar seating 75 guests. There is also a sunny terrace and garden for al fresco dining. The restaurant features in the current Michelin Guide and has been awarded two AA Rosettes. The cuisine style is 'modern British & European' using seasonal, free-range and organic produce that is sourced from local suppliers from within The Weald of Kent, in what really is The Garden of England. The philosophy is to offer value for money, using only the best ingredients. There is a menu that changes daily, together with a set-menu that offers unbeatable value for money. The set menu is available Tuesday through Saturday lunch and Tuesday through Friday dinner. On Sundays there is also a set menu available that is priced at £20.95 for 2 courses and £23.95 for 3 courses. There is an extensive wine list that includes many New World wines from smaller vineyards, together with the more well-known names, including English wines. Most of the wines are served by the glass and there is a full selection of beers, both draught and bottled available, together with locally sourced, organic soft drinks. The Mulberry Tree has become synonymous with first class food & service, an ethos that has been carried through into the outside catering and event management service also provided by The Mulberry Tree.

My visit to The Mulberry Tree was courtesy of a Groupon voucher gift I received for my birthday therefore our choice of dishes was limited however both my partner and I agreed that the meal was one of the best we'd havd in a long time. Every dish was cooked to perfection, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The waitresses were friendly and courteous. The ambience was perfect for an intimate meal for two with no intrusively loud music playing in the background as I have experienced in so many other restaurants 😣. My partner and myself are looking forward to a return vist where we can sample the delights of the full menu this time!

Food is Nouveau cuisine with a bit of a Thai/ Korean twist and surprisingly filling. My Dessert, the Pina Colada whipped Cheesecake with was excellent. My Wife liked her Shiraz but I wasn't keen on my Pinot Grigio so I would look further down the extensive wine list next time. An enjoyable meal, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Only downside was the noise level was incredibly high where we were sitting but that may have been due to the other Diners that night or just that particular spot.

We have visited the Mulberry Tree numerous times since we moved to the area 10 years ago and have always thoroughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the attentive - but not obtrusive -service. The menu is ever-changing with best quality ingredients, beautifully presented and cooked, beginning with the various home-made breads through the delicious hors d’oeuvres and mains to some awesome desserts (if you can manage all the courses in one sitting). Karen, her family and staff always make you feel very welcome and ensure you enjoy a relaxed, unrushed dining experience.
