El Quijote is run by a group of Spanish friends with a wide experience in the restaurant business both in Spain and in Scotland who came to live in Edinburgh in 2003. After several years working in different restaurants and hotels they decided to open their own business, a Spanish Tapas Bar Restaurant that would offer real Spanish food cooked as they do it in Spain. Their goal is to offer a reflection of the real Spanish cuisine offering traditional Spanish dishes as well as something different to give to the people the opportunity to try other type of Spanish dishes no so popular in the UK, as most Spanish restaurants in the UK stick to the same type of menu - tortilla, paella, patatas bravas, etc. The restaurant, by itself, is small and offers a romantic and intimate ambience. The music, decor and food blend in seamlessly. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. So if you are looking for a fantastic tapas bar with eco-friendly décor, offering sumptuous Spanish food, El Quijote is definitely worth a visit. If you are in a hurry it may not be the right place for you because everything is cooked after you order it so it is always fresh, this means that you will have to wait a little bit but it is well worth it. If you would like a real Spanish night out in Edinburgh with a fantastic tapas bar, eco-friendly décor, offering sumptuous Spanish food, El Quijote is definitely worth a visit.
