The restaurant at the Marine Hotel offers a varied menu with an emphasis on freshly caught seafood, served in a relaxed atmosphere with some of the best views in Whitby. The bar has a small grand piano and live piano music, sometimes with a singer, on Fridays and Saturdays and occasional week-nights. There are four luxury suites all with either sea or harbour views.

As we expected, another great night at Marine with the live pianist, a fabulous Christmas menu and first class service. prawn/ smoked salmon cocktails all round and mighty were the portions. Generous portions of thick cut turkey with all the trimmings and we chose sticky toffee pudding to finish. Well done and thank you to all.

The service was excellent the starters of dressed crab and oysters equally so, but both main courses were not as good as previously - the fish pie was very creamy but basically that was all not flavoursome and the seafood linguine came in for similar criticism as it had nice ingredients - lobster, prawns scallops but the sauce was just chilli oil not a seafood sauce. I suggest you follow Rick Steins recipe for seafood linguine and fry prawn shells with garlic , chili and tomato puree blitz and strain to give a bit more flavour than just chilli. We explained this to the waitress who said she would pass the comments on to the kitchen but we heard nothing more ?
