The Moon and Sixpence is situated right on the harbour-side in Whitby, North Yorkshire and provides a relaxed and stylish place to meet for a drink or meal during the day or evening, with some of the best views in town. The layout and décor are relaxing. The front bar has seating for 18 with a rear area seating about 30 guests, decorated in a sort of retro style with pictures of Bobby Moore, Easy Rider and the New York skyline. The brasserie serves fresh, local food prepared daily. The bar offers an extensive range of exciting and delicious cocktail, expertly mixed and a good selection of champagnes, fine wines, spirits and beers.

We were coming over from Manchester and did not know where to book. Googled and found this online. It was absolutely excellent, the atmosphere good, the food delicious but what really made the place was the staff attitude! You will go a long way to find customer service as good as this. Well done Moon & Sixpence.

I booked a table for 4 people here quite a few weeks ago based on the recommendation of a friend. On arrival the staff were welcoming and friendly and we were shown to our table quickly. We then ordered our starters and main course. Unfortunately this is where it all went wrong. Our starters and main courses all arrived at the same time . We had to rush the first course so that our mains didn’t go cold. The waitress said that the kitchen staff had “messed up “. But this in no way was an apology. We got the pricey bill , paid and left quickly. Although the food was ok the overall experience was poor. Based on our experience we will not recommend or return.

We usually book a table at the Moon & Sixpence for an evening meal before going to the Spa Theatre. Though we have called in for an impromptu meal too, when enjoying a visit to Whitby. The food is excellent, freshly prepared, and always looks very appetising. It can become a little noisy in the bar area, but we enjoy the view over the harbour from the front window, watching the boats, the sunset and the passers by...so it is worth it.

We absolutely love it here, there are some wonderful places to eat & drink in Whitby but this is our favourite. We love the menu choice, the decor, the location & the team are very welcoming. We have tried most things on the food menu & everything has been consistently excellent. It's also a fab place to come for cocktails too. Well done guys keep up the good work! Hopefully see again very soon...
