The Chequers Inn is a charming and peaceful characteristic countryside inn, in the picturesque village of Charney Bassett. Recently refurbished and decorated 3 en-suite letting rooms and pleasant dining areas, overlook the village green in this delightful Oxfordshire village. The Chequers has been licensed to serve fine ales, stout, wines and spirits since the early 1800's. Although in the countryside, the location is convenient for Oxford and Swindon, as well as the Vale of the White Horse market towns of Faringdon, Abingdon and Wantage. Whether your're looking for a romantic weekend getaway, attending a business meeting, visiting family and friends, or just passing through the area, each room offers all the comforts of home.

I really enjoyed the mushroom dish and the strawberry Eaton Mess was out of this world. Good food doesn't come cheap and it was worth every penny. Added to which I didn't have to cook it!
