The 3 Horseshoes (Barton-under-Needwood)

Located in Staffordshire in the heart of England, The 3 Horseshoes offers all you would expect from a traditional country pub and more, with log fires, a traditional bar and a lovely beer garden. On offer is a great selection of fine ales, a regular supply of guest ales, continental lagers and fine wines to compliment the food. For those wishing to have a stay over, the bedrooms have been designed to modern standards whilst remaining true to this historic building. A couple of metres over the road you will see the old forge, hence the name 'The 3 Horseshoes'.

Our first time to visit Olivers. Lovely restaurant with lots of space inside - tables had plenty of space around them. The starters were great - Salmon cheesecake was different and very nice. The chicken was exceptionally tasty, but the lasagne was unfortunately too heavy on the tomato and not enough on anything else - very little meat and very little cheese/sauce which made it a little on the bland side. Our lasagne connoisseur could only give it a disappointing 5 out of 10. The orange cheesecake dessert was also disappointing - it was just an exceptionally light, frothy mousse with very little "cheese" about it. We had some great cocktails that certainly went down well. However, the service was faultless and the staff were welcoming and extremely polite and engaging.

Lovely setting for Sunday lunch with friends. Good choice of food and affordable. Service was excellent. Will be back as so much nicer than a pub lunch for not much more.
