The Crown & Cushion, located just 2 minutes from Junction 4a of the M3, is cosy, yet spacious and welcoming with a number of splendid outside areas for alfresco drinking and dining. We are proud to serve fantastic food and drink and on Sundays, you can choose a Sunday lunch in the pub, or a superb carvery in the magnificent Meade Hall. Roaring log fires in winter, cricket on the green in summer! Next to the pub is our stunning Meade Hall – a Medieval-style banqueting hall built from timbers reclaimed from wrecks of the Spanish Armada. It is the ideal venue for hosting a wide range of functions and is particularly popular for wedding receptions.

This was my first visit. It's a lovely-looking restaurant on the inside with a nice ambiance. The staff were friendly and the service was highly satisfactory. My only gripe was with the particular dish I ordered - Duck and Bacon Flatbread. When my meal came to me, the amount of duck was so scarce that initially I thought they had brought me the wrong meal; I had to look hard to find the three or four tiny morsels. The amount of bacon was just about adequate. Overall it was tasty, but there definitely wasn't enough sustenance to justify the £10.95 price tag, in my opinion. My partner was satisfied with the Cumberland sausage baguette, however. I would probably come back here, but will be trying a different dish next time.

I think everyone in the group enjoyed their lunch. There were seventeen of us and our food was brought to table in a timely manner so everyone was eating at the same time.

I would have preferred to wait an extra 15 minutes for my burger to be cooked again, it was chewy, black and over cooked :( my mums lamb was also undercooked, it looked like a rare or medium rare steak which is a little unappetising for a lamb steak. [ all in our own opinion of course! ;) ] other than this, the crown ad cushion is a lovely place with pretty gardens to spend a sunny afternoon and I would have liked to have stayed longer. Try to feel relaxed when you’re on the floor, you can still give excellent service without getting everything right. I know that the pressure is always on but we can sense when there’s tension in the air ;) Thanks for a lovely birthday! Back soon xox
