I have always loved the Cricketers for their quality of food and exceptional service. I am afraid to say the last couple of times I have visited the quality of staff, efficency and service has slipped dramtically. Laat night I had to chase every course. I had the same experience 2 weeks ago. A real shame!!

Good food, friendly staff, varied menu and pleasant surroundings - what more could you ask for?

Our first visit with an early evening meal using a Barons card. Booking a table was really easy online. When we arrived at 5.30pm - the restaurant was already very busy - but there was a special event. Therefore difficult to judge whether this was typical of a normal early Wednesday evening or exceptional. Consequently, checking in and getting seated was a little slow. And the allocated table was the one place in the restaurant where there was little light - you would have needed a torch to be able to read the menu. However, staff quickly and helpfully found us a different table. After that - the meal was really good - the sharing starter was super tasty and great value. The mains were also well cooked and presented. My meal - the chicken and chorizo kebabs was tasty - but perhaps with too many competing flavours on the plate. Uncoated fries might have helped reduce the modest overload of flavours. Nonetheless - I am quibbling - and I still enjoyed the meal After that both of us were too full to attempt a sweet course although a number of fellow diners were tucking in and enjoying a decent variety of desserts. We finished off with some lovely coffees and obligatory choc/mint. Only other hiccup was that staff failed to apply the discount for the Barons card but quickly remedied that. On the way home - we were already talking about when we would be going again and whether to try one of the other local branches - so that must be a recommendation. Finally - a special mention for the friendly and attentive staff.
