Opened in April 2018, New Street Bar & Grill is a fresh and modern approach to dining situated in the heart of Petworth. The focus is on great ingredients cooked simply to a high standard with an emphasis on grilled dishes including locally sourced meat and game, as well as seafood and fish. Sunday lunches are a relaxed affair and you can preorder (3 day’s notice required) a sharing dish such as a whole spit roast chicken, 8 hour slow cooked leg of lamb or rack of lamb. The modern bar offers a fantastic selections of wines by the glass or bottle as well as cocktails, a wide or array of spirits and a selection of small plates ideal for sharing informally. The upstairs dining areas and lounge can be booked for private events and parties including small wedding receptions, birthday celebrations and corporate events.

I do resent paying £19 for pasta, a few wild mushrooms and the smallest portion of courgette possible - however delicious. Just doesn't seem fair when compared to the Sunday Roast with veg at £16. This is not going to encourage the growing numbers of vegetarians out to restaurants.

We had a lovely evening, thank you. We were kindly given our requested table, and a friendly welcome from the team who remembered us from previous visits. We enjoyed great food as always (with flexibility from the chef who kindly made a starter into a main course), the restaurant atmosphere was most congenial, the service perfectly timed, and we chose a mid-price wine which was very good quaffing. Our only suggestion would be to re-instate the special bin-end wine list, as on a previous visit it included a very memorable white burgundy ...

We enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day lunch here. The restaurant itself is very stylish and comfortable (love the velvet tub chairs) with a relaxed but upbeat feel. Delicious complimentary cocktail for me, very tasty roast and best sticky toffee pudding and ice creamI’ve had in a while! All in all, a lovely event for all of us. Lovely for a special occasion but prices are good enough for a midweek lunch with girlfriends too. Highly recommend.
