The Angel Inn is a warm and welcoming inn and the idyllic base set in the South Downs National Park with much to see and do in the town or from which to explore the many interesting places nearby. This ideal place where you can relax and unwind is situated just 300 yards from the Market Square, the centre of Petworth, one of Britain’s most attractive market towns. The un-spoilt bar boasts ships beams, wooden and slate floors, stone walls and three fireplaces, one of which is used to spit roast joints of meat. The inn, which has medieval origins, has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment of its accommodation. You can also enjoy a relaxing stay in one of The Angel's six cozy and luxurious rooms, with a variety of rooms to suit couples, families and individuals. The Angel Inn is also dog friendly, welcoming your furry friends with open arms.

A warm welcome, delicious summer salad (with chips..) and a glass of Sauvignon in perfect surroundings with excellent service . A great way to brighten up a miserable wet day.

The Angel Inn has a great atmosphere and last night was buzzing. The food was good, one of our starters, the crispy beef was not as we had expected but other than that the other starters and our burgers were delicious. We shall be back! I think your star system is wrong - in my opinion it should read 'terrible,' ' poor', 'average' , 'good', 'very good/excellent', on that basis you would get 4 stars from me., but on your system only 3

Fail to see the 4/5 star rating for this establishment, the food was adequate if a little ordinary, the service was again adequate. We were offered a table of our choosing and selected one close to the fire place (this was our choice and we should have moved) it was filthy, and this made us look around and the furnishings are tired. When we came to pay it was pointed out that a “service charge” had been included, not that unusual, and I should have made myself more aware of the pricing policy at the time! But a 12.5% surcharge applied to the bill is not justified when considering the food quality, general ambience, cleanliness, and I wonder whether the staff benefit from any proportion of the”surcharge”.

Attentive table service of well cooked pub food in lovely walled garden setting - numbers of other diners can extend waiting times .Service charge at 12.5 % is steep for outside London
