We visited this restaurant when it first opened a number of years ago and were not to impressed and so gave it a miss until last night (Saturday 25/05/19.) What have we missed all this time? The restaurant itself is very well decorated and has a lovely ambience about it. The lighting is quite subdued, the decor is clean and relaxing but relatively modern and the furniture (tables) is well set out and comfortable. The staff are very welcoming, most obliging and yet not over bearing. Two nice touches were, a bottle of water was placed on the table at no charge and warm bread and butter placed on the table as a taster before starters, again at no charge. This even included gluten free bread for my wife who is coeliac. Now the best bit, whilst the menu and the chef's specials were a little limited in choice we still found plenty of dishes to choose from and the quality of food served was simply excellent. Given the quality of food served we found the price extremely competitive and very good value for money. Compared to a lot of restaurants the wine choice is limited and at first glance appeared a little expensive however we think its a case of "you get what you pay for" and the wine we chose proved to be a really nice Italian white well worth the money and really good value for money. It was nice to see a wine bottle with a cork in it rather than a metal screw top. (Apologies for not being environmentally aware) All in all a really nice evening out and we will now be visiting on a regular basis along with friends. Well done La Cour.

A friendly welcome from the minute we arrived, great service from all staff. A free kir royale for mum as it was mother’s day which was a nice surprise. Great food, nice drink and wine selection and good atmosphere. It was a bustling afternoon but service was spot on. We’ll be back.

Four of us dined here for the first time our starters were all very enjoyable and for main course we all ordered steak but unfortunately one of the fillet steaks had been cut in half and didn’t resemble a fillet steak it was drawn to waiting staff attention and we were told the chef had cut it in half to see if it was cooked medium???? I’m afraid a good chef would not do that! They were very apologetic and did remove it from the bill apart from this problem everything was fine with the meal.
