The Highwayman Inn

The Highwayman Inn lies in the tiny hamlet of Exlade Street, nestled in the Chiltern hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Formerly called The Greyhound, it dates back from the 16th century. The hamlet used to be larger, but it is known that two houses burnt down in the early part of last century. The Exlade Street blacksmith’s forge previously stood in the car park of the Highwayman Inn and several large barns existed for the storage and working of wood from the local area.
The Highwayman Inn is a warm welcoming pub. Madalin and his team of fantastic chefs deliver a passion for simple yet delicious homemade food matched by attentive friendly service with roaring fires and a relaxed atmosphere with or without your four legged friend.
The Turpin room, our private dining area is capable of holding up to 50 guests, with the option of exclusively hiring out the whole pub for up to 100.
Canapés, sit down three course menus or buffets, whatever your requirement. Give Lou a call for a chat.
With three great local ales and a range of international lagers our cosy bar is perfect for a break in cycling or walking exploring the local bridle ways and footpaths.

Been here several times over the last 2/3 years now and have never had a bad experience here. Since they did their refurb they also upgraded their menu and the food isn’t just good, but some of the flavour combinations are unreal and they clearly have a very clever and creative chef. Service is also always good and front of house always greets us and remember us from previous visits. Best tapas around even in comparison to that eaten across Spain.

Came to El Molino to celebrate my brothers 50th. Absolutely outstanding! Every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and made with care. The service was just as impressive—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A perfect dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!
