Miller & Carter (Wilmslow)

Beef is a labour of love at Miller & Carter steakhouses, with a focus into pursuing the perfect steak, from the field to the butcher's block to the grill, so only the finest, most flavoursome cuts make your plate. Their premium graded Ashdale beef is reared especially for Miller & Carter on sustainable West Country farms. It is then matured for at least 28 days, hand-prepared by their master butcher and expertly cooked by their chefs - for you to savour in relaxed, elegant surroundings that are a cut above the rest. So you can rest assured that whatever your preferred cut - rib-eye, fillet, sirloin or perhaps a chateaubriand between two - will be as flavoursome and tender as their master butcher intended. There's plenty more on the menu, from juicy build-your-own burgers and freshly prepared salads to lamb, fish dishes and luxurious little extras to give your steak that final flourish. The cellar is well stocked with a great selection of wines to complement your preferred cut of meat. If you like your steak served with real attention to quality and a dash of style, this elegant steakhouse with award-winning West Country steaks, a wide range of fish, chicken and burgers, and elegant interior is just perfect.

Well what can I say, 7 of us celebrating my daughters 21st. Firstly the bar staff were ignorant of us standing waiting to be served despite nobody else at the bar. The barman then abruptly said ' are you waiting to be served?' … clearly we weren't standing at the bar looking at him for 5 mins for nothing. We were shown to our table and fair enough, they left us for 20 mins to decide. We ordered our starters and mains, then waited a further 50 mins for the starters to arrive. We then sat with empty dirty plates for another 20 mins while waiters/waitresses walked past glancing at our table and walking on. It took me to wait until one of them was in earshot to say ' could you all pass you dirty plates down please' to the rest of our party. At which point the waiter then came over and said 'have you all finished guys'. We then waited a further 45 mins for our mains at which point one of our party called a waitress over to ask how long and told her how long we had actually waited for our starter and now our main. The waitress said she would check and then go and see the manager. All of a sudden 5 waiting on staff arrived with a bottle of cheap Prosecco and our mains, would you believe. How could the food just appear just like that and how long had the food been sat waiting to come out. We have eaten at the Manchester branch which was heaving and got served a dam site quicker than that and the bar staff were lovely. On this particular night 5 tables were empty around us and countless waiters/waitress wandering around literally doing nothing. Also just for good measure, a family of 4 with( two young boys around 9 or 10 ) were leaving as we got our starters. 3 ladies took their table just after the waitress had cleaned up. About 5 mins later one of the young boys came back with his dad to look for the boys phone which he had left. Nobody had seen it even though clearly nobody else had been to that table. Not accusing but where had it gone. Either horrible clientele or dishonest staff. On a good note food was amazing but the service and attitude of the staff will ensure we never revisit that branch again.
