Baranis is a chic London bar that transports you in an instant to sun-kissed Provence. The bar, named after its wide range of Pastis and Absinthe drinks, is located in the atmospheric, old vaulted cellars of a former auction house on Chancery Lane where discreet booths and the UK's only indoor pétanque court makes it the perfect place for a leisurely lunch or a playful evening. A more casual offering than its sister restaurant Cigalon, Baranis offers a selection of dishes especially designed to complement the bespoke cocktails and wines. The menu changes seasonally but some of the regional specialities include Socca, Pissaladière, Pizzeta, Chicken Skewers and Pear & Blue Cheese Crostini. Inspired by the fragrances and flavours of Provence, the drinks list highlights the area's prime apéritif le pastis with Absinthe, pastis de Marseille, pastis de Corse and many more featuring on the menu. The mixologists have created over 30 in-house specials including Ginger Jar, Le Pagnol, The Lady Killer, and Lychee & Lavender Martini. For refreshing cocktails why not try the herb-infused Thyme Daiquiri, Gentiane Champagne cocktail and Rosé Mojito to name just a few. In a specially designed walk-in cellar, Baranis offers a selection of wines exclusively from France with a focus on Provençal and Corsican wines. With a glass of chilled rosé in hand, some Corsican cured meat and a game of pétanque on the go, city life seems a million miles away.
