Cigalon

Cigalon brings Provençal cuisine to London. The restaurant, named after the 1935 Marcel Pagnol film, is housed in a magnificent former auction house on Chancery Lane. Its green house glass-ceiling, double height dining room, reed fences and singing cicada, transport you effortlessly to Cannes or St Tropez without the excess baggage. Cigalon meat and fish specials are simply but expertly cooked on the grill by the chefs who silently operate the open kitchen area at the back of the dining room. It might include Rack of Lamb, Rib of Beef, Pieds et Paquets (lamb tripe & trotter stew), whole Sea Bass and more seasonal delights which change daily. The à la Carte menu offers classic Provençal cuisine composed of dishes such as Salade Niçoise, Cassolette of Snails & Anchovies, Line-caught Cod and Aioli as well as Baked Aubergine with Goat cheese & Aromatic Herbs. Any sweet tooth will enjoy the Caramelized Quince with Pink Cider Granita, Warm Black Chocolate & Nuciola Tart. The wine list at Cigalon is exclusively French and has a particular focus on wines from Provence and Corsica to perfectly match the food of the area. Cigalon also features wines from across France, from Sancerre to Chablis, Bordeaux to Rhône and Burgundy. A selection of sparkling wines and Champagne is also available as is a large selection of wines by the glass and carafe. The wine journey discovery is completed with magnificent sticky wines from Roussillon, Corsica, Vintage Port and Sauternes. With secluded booths and cosy banquettes it is the perfect venue for business lunches and romantic dinners. If you are looking for something calmer, there is a private dining room which seats 8 guests.
