Lanivet Inn
About Us
Welcome to the Lanivet Inn, a fantastic local pub, where you can expect a warm and friendly reception from Rob and Nat Liddicoat and the rest of our team. We are a community led village pub focusing on the things that make a good pub great: quality food made from fresh locally sourced produce at reasonable prices, the best kept ales, music, sports, games and a whole lot of fun.
Lanivet Inn is a small pub with a big offer. Our daily menu utilises the excellent wealth of local produce available each season within close proximity to the inn. We are very child-friendly, dogs are also welcome in the bar and there is ample car parking.
A well-appointed large beer garden is ideal for sitting out on warm summer evenings. With a roaring fire in the winter and an enclosed garden for the warmer months, the inn really is for all seasons. We also have an ever increasing calendar of events for everyone to enjoy throughout the year.
A Little History
The Lanivet Inn has been operating as a pub since the 18th Century and is one of the oldest in the St. Austell Brewery estate, having been bought by brewery founder Walter Hicks in 1893 for just £400. The pub sign, which features a Panda Bear in a bamboo grove, has been adopted for more than 70 years and celebrates when the village’s local bamboo plantation supplied pandas at London Zoo with their staple diet. This was a commercial bamboo grove, which existed near the village, where cub scouts cut shoots to send to the Zoo.
Lanivet is a village and civil parish in Cornwall. Situated approximately 2½ miles southwest of Bodmin, it is geographically at the centre of Cornwall and there is a cross in Lanivet Churchyard that marks the centre point of the county. The Saints’ Way long-distance footpath passes Lanivet near its half-way point, making the inn an ideal a great place to take a break from walking. In the heart of Cornwall, Lanivet is ideally situated to explore Cornwall’s rugged North coast and the more tranquil South Coast and is just 7 miles from the World famous Eden Project.
