Country House Restaurant at Plumber Manor

A Dorset luxury hotel and one of the most characterful country house hotels in England, Plumber Manor is the only manor house in the UK that is still owned, and now run as a luxury hotel, by the same family that built it in the early 1600s. There's no pretence here and the hospitality is renowned. You're guests of one of the oldest families in Dorset, whose roots can be traced back to William the Conqueror, and they'll really look after you. There's even a portrait of Charles I hanging in the Gallery, a portrait that the king personally presented to his mistress who was a member of this family. The restaurant at Plumber Manor has been in the Good Food Guide every year for 38 years. The Prideaux-Brune family has been entertaining guests at Plumber Manor for over 400 years! Hardly surprising, therefore, that the manor is now home to one of the most popular country house restaurants in Dorset. “Our guests are our friends and I cook for my friends” is Brian Prideaux-Brune's philosophy, much appreciated by residents and local diners alike. Brian's delicious Dinner Menu changes daily and ‘a la carte' supplements accompany the set price menu. The Sunday Lunch is supremely regarded locally and very popular; booking is essential. Richard Prideaux-Brune is responsible for the cellar, a responsibility he takes very seriously indeed. The result is an enviable wine list that complements perfectly the exceptionally fine food. He also mixes the most sensational cocktails! The restaurant comprises three rooms, two of which are decorated with family portraits and have open fires, a popular feature in winter. The quirky Cellar Room features a vaulted brick ceiling and has been hand-painted to depict an authentic country scene. The restaurant is open every evening of the week as well as for lunch on Sunday.
