Makla & The Fez
Makla is an independent, family owned restaurant which opened in late 2018. It has a prime location on the bustling high street of Southbourne, which is only a 10-minute taxi ride from Bournemouth's town centre, and a 5 minute walk to the award winning Bournemouth Beaches.
Once you step foot into Makla, you feel yourself being transported, The colourful handmade Moroccan bags line the high ceilings, giving you an impression of being at the bustling souk of Marrakech.
Makla is well known for the bustling atmosphere and good home cooked food, but we also have our hidden bar area downstairs for those wanting a more lively evening. Our friendly bar staff are happy to help with any request, stay after your meal for our entertainment on Friday & Saturday nights!.

First class visit to Makla. Food as always was outstanding and the waiter service was first class. Huge shout out to Harry who looked after us and was attentive, polite and even when there was a small problem with the temperature of our after dinner coffees he sorted with no fuss and apologised. One of the best visits we have had ⭐️⭐️⭐️

We enjoyed our visit to Makla. The cocktails were delicious, the staff friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was buzzing and fun. It was a bit disappointing that many of our initial food choices were off the menu. However, after a rethink we enjoyed the selection that was available. The goat tagine was beautifully flavoured but the chicken tagine was disappointing in terms of flavour. Would happily return to try other dishes.
