I visited Moonlight in August 2025 with my daughter (33) and granddaughter (2). We were beautifully looked after by the lovely proprietor and his colleagues. Our biggest challenge was narrowing down the options on Moonlight’s superb pan-[south-east] Asian menu, which encompasses Japanese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai and Chinese comfort food. We overdid it and ended up carrying our nasi goreng and rendang away in boxes. The restaurant is in a great location near the Theatre Royal and Pavilion (recommend parking in Church Street NCP) and, on a warm day, the French windows are thrown open and you can choose to sit inside or on the terrace if you’re an avid people-watcher. The lovely, welcoming staff made it a memorable dining experience. Everyone in the restaurant looked happy. Highly recommended.

We were worried that the service would be dreadful after seeing reviews on trip advisor. However, service was fine. A bit slow, but not many people working, so expected. It's the food that let's the place down. Chicken was dry (maybe already cut up and frozen?). Tempura wasn't light as expected. Very thin green curry. Dumplings were good though. The wine was ok and not expensive for a restaurant, but I would rather pay more for better.

It was the first time at Moonlight and it won’t be the last The food was wonderful…could have been a little hotter,staff are amazing….the restaurant is very pleasant..a good night was had .
