The Griffin Inn

The Griffin Inn has been owned by the Pullan family since 1979. During that time, they have built up an inn with a fantastic atmosphere comprising delicious locally sourced food, finest real local ales, a renowned wine list, roaring log fires, stunning garden views and finally thirteen beautiful individually designed bedrooms. The à la carte menu includes a wide spectrum of world cuisine. A wood oven on the terrace adds warmth in the winter for eating outside, but also acts as the hub around which crowds gather for spit roast barbecues in summer. You will not be surprised to learn that an awful lot of 'research & development' goes into selecting the 120 odd wines on the award winning wine list. Wherever possible, this includes unusual and interesting wines, often from lesser known regions. There are 20 wines available by the glass and with no problem to “cork up” any unfinished bottle. In addition, a couple of interesting and eclectic wines are featured and promoted each month. The Griffin is a proper local pub with a truly authentic feel that is matched by few other establishments. There are 13 bedrooms situated both in the pub itself, and in neighbouring buildings for those looking for a more secluded stay.

Our starters took a while to come but the waitress was very apologetic and offered us drinks on the house which was very considerate and most welcome! Plenty of space at the table and good quality food. Good evening all round.

A rural pub - full of character, excellent food, great service and a stunning location... hard to beat! We'll be back - perhaps to make use of their accommodation too.. an easy drive away from London.

We had a very enjoyable evening at the Griffin, great food, great wine and great service. We will be back soon - especially if there are a few nice days to enjoy that view from the garden. I can't think of a pub with a better view.
