Mother’s Day take away service. All the family loved the food. Owners very welcoming on collection, free beer while waiting for food couldn’t have done more for you 👍

I think the Old Mill has the potential to be great, but it’s let down by the pace of service and the training of the staff. The food wasn’t bad (definitely room for improvement though!) but overall we felt disappointed that we were continually having to ask for things, to several different wait staff and even had to chase for our starters having waited for over half an hour for two calamari. The service felt disorganised and the wait staff - who are young - were clearly undertrained I.e. not replacing cutlery, not clearing glasses, not doing check-backs, not confident in clearing plates. The manager also seemed more keen to chat to people and take photos of the band, than he did actually running a lunch service. He should have been at the pass, not at the bar. Advice: train staff properly and manage a service.

Lovely friendly staff and delicious home cooked food. A good hearty portion and an excellent selection of wine and gin.

We booked our lunch for Sunday afternoon and were greeted by a jazz band which we thought would be a nice treat along with our lunch. While they were wonderful having them in the actual restaurant was a bit problematic as we could not hear each other as they were quite loud and there were a few members of our group who already had hearing difficulties. So perhaps a rethink on the location. Our drinks order was taken as soon as we sat and our food order 15 minutes later however we were then left unattended and not asked if we needed further drinks or an updated on our food. An hour later we had to ask for more drinks and when we could expect the food. The owner attended to apologies and compensated us our drinks and a meal off our bill which we thought that was fair. The owner then proceeded to tell off his waitresses in the restaurant which was a little bit unprofessional so perhaps this could be done back of house rather than in front of diners so we are not made feel uncomfortable. Understandably there will be teething issues under new management as these things do happen. We will try again after the refurb. Good luck on the future.

We have not visited The Old Mill for many years, but thought we would give it a try with the new management. We were very impressed with the staff and could not fault the food. We will definitely be visiting again and recommending to friends.
