Our favourite food to cook is fish, fish and more fish!
We have lots of fishy items on our Specials boards and our fresh fish is delivered by our local Fish Merchant every day. We use all local ingredients. Game in season from our local shoots, local Yorkshire meats, Eggs, Cheeses and if we can, we like to use local small artisan suppliers. We bake our own Bread fresh every day, churn our own butter and smoke all our own Salmon. We have our own Herb garden and our Head Chef forages in the local hedgerows. We like to keep it simple and let the food do the talking.
Our wood fired pizza oven
Imported from Italy. We light this every morning and serve Wood fired pizza at lunch time and early evening.
Pizza & Prosecco
The ultimate Corona busting evening for friends! Outside in our herb garden. Our Moroccan Bedouin tent with log burner, big rugs, candles, and cushions. Exclusive use of our outside tables and Fire pit. Socially distance around our big table and enjoy pizzas from our wood fired pizza oven.
The Tickled Trout was originally built in the 17th Century as the Chequers Inn on the main road to York. The Mainey family bought the dilapidated pub in 2019 and closed for a six Month refurbishment. Re opening the open fires, the stone flag floors and the old oak beams. We have created five boutique bedrooms for guests. Surrounded by Countryside, there are lots of country walks to enjoy, Wetherby races are just next door and there is nothing like just sitting in front of our crackling fires with your spaniel a pint of local Ale.

We were a family of 5 that came for my birthday lunch this Sunday. It was our first time here and wouldnt hesitate to come back. The food was amazing, some great Sunday lunches and my wife loved the vegetarian option. Really good friendly service and very cosy traditional pub / restaurant!

we thought the food was amazing. Staff were extremely attentive - maybe a little bit too much… our starters came out whilst we still had appetisers on the table and during our mains, whilst we were enjoying a slow meal were asked if we had finished on more than one occasion. However our wine was never poured for us, but the service, staff and ambience was still brilliant and we would recommend to others - 8/10 in our books

Tickled Trout helped us plan and organise an 80th birthday gathering and party for a 3 generational group of 13 ranging from children aged 2/3 and 5 up to birthday boy at 80 and comprising fussy eaters and vegetarians.The Team at Tickled Trout exceeded all expectations and produced a late lunchtime Saturday spread to suit all tastes and preferences in a room dedicated to our party. They even produced a special birthday cake on request. There was nothing but cheerful service and all at a great value for money. As the guests had travelled from all around the country it was important to us that all went well - and it did. Thanks to the TT team. We’ll be back. Highest recommendation everyone’s tastes
