As a longtime fan of the Ginger Fox the expected excellent service was complimented by the delicious food and drink making the visit well worth the drive. I don't normally check bills in restaurants, but have started to do so recently after another restaurant had tried charing for a bottle of expensive wine, when only a glass had been ordered. I didn't expect to see anything awry at the Ginger Fox, so was surprised to see that the final bill included drinks, which hadn't been ordered. When I pointed this out, the items were removed, the error acknowledged and a new bill generated. At the back of my head though i wonder whether such 'errors' are more widespread. Had i been less vigilant more than £20 would have been added to the bottom line. One other last piece of feedback on this visit. I had used the online table reservation system and received an email acknowledgement confirming the booking. Sadly, on arrival the booking hadn't transferred to the restaurant's booking print-out. Luckily there were plenty of tables available at the time of my early reservation, so no harm done. Had it been rammed, then i may not have had a table.

The food was not what we expect from the Ginger Fox. It was not freshly cooked, swimming in gravy Yorkshire pudding over cooked and cold. The starter was lovely shame about the main course.

Not as good as usual

It was not too busy for a Saturday night. Of the 5 main meals one was disappointing, This was the chips which were over cooked and soggy. The other issue was the homemade ice cream. The walnut was mostly ground walnut nuts and not much ice cream. Just did not work. The peanut ice cream was also not a success. Otherwise the service between starters and main meal was slow. The staff worked hard as usual

Are dinner in the beautiful garden with friends. Tasty food for all, including vegetarians. Service was fantastic, much help provided with choosing desserts was appreciated. Perfect evening in the countryside. We had a lovely jug of fresh elderflower cucumber and mint to drink (no alcohol )and thought the meal was very reasonable for the quality.
