The Halfway Bridge Inn

Set in the heart of the glorious South Downs National Park the 250 year old Halfway Bridge is flanked by two historic market towns: Midhurst, home to the Cowdray Estate, Cowdray Ruins and International polo, and Petworth, the antique centre of southern England with its famous country house and deer park. A charming 17th century coaching inn, the informal but eminently stylish Halfway Bridge has been recently renovated to a superior standard and is the perfect cosy base from which to explore the area's many charms or the kind of relaxed luxury that lends itself to romance or respite. The menu bursts with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. Fish, game and traditional English and Mediterranean dishes, as well as unique delicacies unearthed by the Halfway Bridge's own forager. There is always something to excite the appetite. A simple but elegant décor includes fabulous open fires, with dining offered in a choice of intimate nooks. In good weather alfresco dining on the pretty terrace or in the sheltered garden is idyllic. Small group bookings are easily accommodated in one of several private dining rooms. A connoisseur's wine list complements the menu, including local sparkling wines. Many are served by the glass to help you discover a favourite and a fine selection of Sussex ales is also available.
