Helen Browning's Royal Oak
You’ll eat well here. Generous organic food from our farm or our neighbours. A menu that changes most days and always with the seasons. Our family, friends, and farm workers have shared meals and beers here for 10 years and we only serve the food and drink that we enjoy ourselves.
Food
Our menu changes most days and always with the seasons. Enjoy organic pork – bacon, sausages, burgers, ribs, roasting joints etc. – throughout the year from our own rare-breed Saddleback pigs, born and raised at Eastbrook Farm, also organic beef and lamb from trusted freinds. Our milk comes via Berkeley Farm five miles away – they process our milk from the 2 dairy herds here on the farm, and we buy it back as pasteurised milk and cream, plus staggeringly yellow butter!
Veg is usually direct from our vegetable patch here in Eastbrook, plus fruit and nuts from Helen’s agroforestry. We also like Laverstoke Park for its buffalo ice cream and Wing Fish at St Mawes for their careful fish supplies. Neighbours for their watercress, rhubarb, courgettes, by the wheelbarrow load, sometimes.
Drink
Always four superb changing real ales from Arkell’s, organic soft drinks and cordials from Belvoir, Big Tom and others; organic wines from Vintage Roots plus their glorious Fleury champagne; and a superb range of gins and whiskies – at least a dozen to choose from – including our very own award-winnning London Dry gin distilled with botanicals and fruit from Helen’s agroforestry, plus our innovative Blackcurrant Sylvan Spirit, made with organic blackcurrants harvested on the farm.
Breakfast, lunch & supper
We are open all day, so even if you’re not staying overnight in one of the attractive and cosy rooms in our boutique hotel you can still enjoy a fabulous farm breakfast from early morning.
