The Red Lion Inn
We arrived at the Red Lion on 17th of June 2017, to find a closed pub showing little sign of care or attention. Our vision was to restore the pub as a community asset and a place for people to enjoy good company, good beer and good food. We have now agreed a further 5 year agreement and invested in a full and extensive refurbishment to further establish the Red Lion and to consolidate its position in the area. We use our experiences and knowledge of Greek cuisine to offer speciality Greek and Mediterranean options on our evening menu and Meg also brings pan-asian options to the specials board
Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions prior to visiting us. We usually have Gluten Free, Vegetarian and Vegan options available and are (very) dog friendly. We look forward to meeting you and hope that you enjoy your time with us.

Misleading menu

We have been to The Red Lion on a few occasions and have always had great food there. We went on Saturday evening both looking forward to Greek food. My husband ordered the Beef Stifado which was very good. I ordered the Greek Gyros Pork Platter with salad, fries, pitta bread and Tsaztiki, but asked to remove any raw onion from the salad. I was expecting the dish to be strips of spiced pork, but it really tasted just like streaky bacon rather than pork (- quite salty) , and a greek salad with tomato, cucumber, feta and olives. The salad turned out to be six slices of tomato in a dressing, more of a garnish than a salad. The waiter and waitress were very good, and when asked if we enjoyed our meals I asked about the salad. The waitress spoke to the chef about it who said that it was listed as salad, not Greek salad and would normally be just tomato and raw onion. As I had requested no onion it was just tomato. We were rather disappointed as I felt the menu was misleading, it wasn’t clear that the description “Greek” only referred to the meat and not the salad. In fairness to the owners, when we came to settle the bill they did not charge for my meal and were sorry that I felt disappointed. We do like the food at The Red Lion and it is usually very good, so I would recommend anyone who likes Greek food to try it. Next time I will double check what’s included before I order though.

Staying locally and visited here for an evening meal. The owner and his staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. Made us and our dog feel very welcome. Greek food which was a lovely change. Plenty of it and very tasty.

Good range of beers. Super menu (Greek, Spanish, Lebanese) excellent authentic cooking. Calamari and Greek salad best I've ever had outside Greece! Very friendly efficiënt service. Room rather chilly. Recommend offering senior citizen main course portions to reduce wastage.

We have a family gathering and a Sunday roast at the Red Lion. The food and service was great and the chocolate pudding was the best pudding I've had for ages.
