The Navigation

The Navigation is aptly named, as it sit right on the Grand Union Canal, which points the way to London from the Midlands. Things have changed a bit since 1876, when it was surrounded by a wharf yard, corn warehouses, a coach house and numerous other buildings – but there is still plenty of space for travellers in the large car park and the welcome is just as warm as it was back then. The garden is a lovely spot to enjoy a few drinks, as you admire the huge old willow tree. Or why not indulge in some alfresco dining on the deck, which overlooks the canal and surrounding countryside? The carefully considered food menu is as fresh, characterful and well-sourced as can possibly be and there is plenty to discover on the Mediterranean-influenced menu, from hand-made pizzas to pasta, fish, meat and sharing platters.
