Surrounded by beautiful countryside, under the constant gaze of the striking viaduct, The Swan is a cosy free house in the picturesque village of Chappel and Wakes Colne. The River Colne runs through the gardens, which offer a picturesque setting for eating outside. The adjoining public playground is ideal for entertaining younger guests. The sheltered cobbled courtyard with its overflowing wall baskets of flowers and enormous parasols is a sun-trap. The large patio heaters in the courtyard allow for al fresco eating much of the year. Once inside this 14th Century Inn you are welcomed by a mix of original features and contemporary comfort. With its beamed ceilings the interior has a warm and friendly atmosphere enhanced by a log fire that burns in the large inglenook fireplace during the winter. Whether you're looking for a fabulous venue for dinner or lunch, a countryside retreat for a relaxing weekend away or just a welcome haven for a drink with friends, this lovely pub is the perfect choice. All dishes are made to order and are prepared on site using fresh ingredients. On the menu you'll find old favourites alongside some more contemporary dishes. If you're only peckish, there are lighter options for lunchtimes, including seasonal salads, small starters and delicious filled sandwiches. There are also lots of options for vegetarians.

Booked for father’s day lunch as went last year and was nice. However things have changed this year very limited menu which wasn’t warned about and staff weren’t very accommodating about this! We just had a drink which was very expensive! We end up leaving and going elsewhere! Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

My family and I had Sunday lunch at the Swan for my Dad's 80th Birthday. We had the most amazing day, the staff could not have been more welcoming and accomodating and the food was delicious. Plus great value! We also enjoyed the comfy surroundings and the open fire! We cannot wait to return. Thank you. :-)
