An outstandingly good restaurant in the heart of Cheshire, No. 48 Kitchen & Bar offers authentic Mediterranean cuisine in homely, attractive surroundings; behind the traditional exterior of a house in Stockport Road, Marple, there beats a rather unexpected heart, with the interior belying the look of the outside and providing the setting for a truly memorable experience and a patio for al fresco dining.

Table of 5 for an early dinner, and once again we couldn’t fault it - lovely ambience, keen service team, overseen by friendly Felix behind the bar. The gin and tonics are great (and a good list of unusual gins is on offer). The Paella beat us in the end and we couldn't quite finish all of it! No hesitation in recommending this place to families, friends or couples.

The food was very good but quite pricey, and drinks were expensive as well. We really enjoyed our tapas but not the order in which it was served. We ordered 2 fish, 2 meat & 2 veg dishes. They were brought to the table 1 dish at a time over a period of about 15 mins, starting with cod goujons and finishing with salmon. We would have preferred the 2 fish dishes together. We also had our liqueur coffee served before dessert without being asked.
