Grand Central offers a scintillating menu of great American classics including steaks, burgers, ribs, quesadillas and hot dogs. This American-style bar and grill is one of the largest eateries in Ipswich, seating 280 guests across themed dining and bar areas. Grand Central brings the ultimate American dining experience to The Waterfront. The restaurant is packed with interesting things to look at – be it the bar, emblazoned with the names of cocktails, the graffiti wall art, or the quirky stickers and signs. The menu has been developed to ensure it is as authentic as possible, including American grill and Tex-Mex staples, while incorporating new trends from across the pond. The majority of the menu is big, burly portions (as you’d expect) but there is also a weekly changing specials menu with lighter bites.

Visited Grand Central previously but found current menu uninspiring. The quality of the food was poor. My wife and I had the chicken burger which was overcooked and dry, my son and his girlfriend the quesadilla which had no taste. The manager did take of the cost of my wife and my meal, but the bill originally included someone else's drink. Very disappointed will not be returning.

The restaurant was overly noisy for the level of trade this particular evening. The starters came separate from our mains despite asking for everything to be served together. We then had to ask to be served our mains. My dish, the Bellevue Blast burger, was disastrous. The chicken breast had been over cooked to the point the meat had dried out and the edges of the breast had started to go leathery. The burger patties had absolutely no taste to them whatsoever. In fact the only taste from the burger was the mustard I added!. And the fries were so salty they were inedible. The dish I had to replace that was the chicken fajitas. The main part of the dish was fine. Nicely cooked, reasonable taste (although, again the meat had no seasoning), decent portion size. But the wraps were very stodgy, clearly a cheap quality to save costs and the guacamole had either gone off or was someone's leftover wallpaper paste! Never tasted guacamole so bad! My friend had the rib-eye steak and that was cooked half as ordered and half virtually blue. The cost of the meal for what we had was very steep. Even with drinks and desserts etc I was shocked when I saw the bill. Overall this wasn't a particularly pleasant dining experience, which I won't be repeating. The really disappointing thing is that there was virtually no empathy or apology from the staff. Just the bare minimum to do their job. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you enjoy eating quality food.
