The creation of Brett Woonton, Charlie Young and Elena Ares, Vinoteca is inspired by the wine bars of Spain and Italy, which often also function as wine shops. The aim was to create a convivial atmosphere in which to serve high quality, characterful wines - also available to take away at retail prices – and simple yet imaginative food created from fresh, seasonal produce. Vinoteca Farringdon opened in late 2010. Despite critical acclaim and several awards, Vinoteca remains a friendly, welcoming place to enjoy great wine and food at refreshingly affordable prices Vinoteca's list of nearly 300 wines is lovingly crafted by Brett and Charlie, with the help of all of their knowledgeable staff. They also have an ever-changing selection of 25 wines by the glass that are comprehensively reviewed and updated twice a year, to ensure that the selections from all over the world offer the very best in quality and variety. All the wines are also available to buy at highly competitive retail prices on site and online, with delivery all over the UK. The same approach is reflected in Vinoteca's food... focused on producing fresh, tasty, seasonal, unfussy food. Vinoteca's chefs have a fantastic pedigree, having cooked previously at places such as St John, Wapping Project, Blueprint Cafe, Sketch, Zetter , Fat Badger and Kensington Place. All Vinoteca's chef's have similar inspiration but their food has its own identity and they each have their own daily changing menu. There are only three things you will find in all of them , which have all been there since the day Vinoteca opened : bread freshly baked on the premises; the delicious cured meats imported directly from Jabugo, in Spain; and their outstanding bavette steak. Everything served is freshly prepared on site. And because Vinoteca focuses on fresh and seasonal, the food is by default mostly British, local and always good value.
