Fresh fish and seafood is delivered from the South coast every day, incredible British beef has been sourced from the same farms for decades, most of the game comes from Milland valley and the fruit and vegetables are either grown in the village or come from the Sussex countryside, with a constant search for new niche producers of cheese, cured meats and condiments. The blackboard menu reflects finer cuts of meat, game and fresh fish with European and pan-Asian flavours blending seamlessly with contemporary British cuisine. Sunday lunch is a British institution and by far the busiest time of the week for a country pub and The Rising Sun offers wonderful roast dinners using great British meat, fresh vegetables, crispy roast potatoes and home-made Yorkshire puddings and gravy always featuring rare roast Scotch beef and, through all but the hottest months of the year, at least one other, rotating free range pork and chicken and lean and tender leg of lamb. The menu is structured with shared starters that are great for family grazing and a mixed mains selection with roasts, pub classics, fresh fish, vegetarian dishes, salads, and sandwiches. Kids have their own menu and puddings are all home-made.
