Disappointing 2nd visit

Had really enjoyed Fat Hippo York. Booked a lunch table in Brum: chips were not nice and tin of open fizz was served warm as "problem with fridge", wouldn't have ordered if that was conveyed when taking drinks orders. Generally felt rushed out of the place even though there were lots of tables.

Looks better online than it is

The staff weren't particularly friendly and tried to charge us for putting the sauce on the side rather than on the food which is absolutely ridiculous. What difference does it make? The drinks didn't seem like legit Pepsi or Fanta and the bathrooms were pretty unclean. Wouldn't return, the seasoning on the chips neither of us liked either. The tables are squashed in making it hard to move around.

Cracking place!

Wachos are excellent. Large portions! Wild Bill Birger is amazing. We all had a different burger and they are truly delicious. Service was great too.

Barely time to digest anything

Unfortunately it was very obvious that the staff were pushing for a quick turnaround. It's a very busy restaurant and people are turned away every few minutes, however it felt like our waitress wanted us in and out. My husband's plate was removed while he was mid-bite, and I had to explain he hadn't finished. Then we paid for bill and was just finishing drinks, and my drink was removed before I'd finished. Then two members of staff came to check if we had paid, even though the receipt was clear on the table. We were in the restaurant for less than an hour and the last 10 of those being me insisting we stay put simply to catch a breath and digest...during which time the table was reset with cutlery for the next guests while we were sat there. Just a very unpleasant vibe. Food fine, nothing to rave about.
