Balinese House Restaurant

Nestled in the heart of Brighton’s South Laines, Balinese House is a cozy, family-run haven where the warmth of home cooking meets the vibrancy of Southeast Asian street food. Run by Mum (Lorena) & Dad (Chandra)— who bring cherished family recipes and hospitality —every dish is a love letter to their favourite foods: expect fragrant curries simmered to perfection; crispy tempura that melts in your mouth; and soul-warming noodle bowls packed with spice and umami. With a welcoming, rustic space and the comforting hum of an open kitchen that feels like home, Balinese House is all about sharing good food, good company, and a little taste of family tradition.

We’ve found our forever home here in Pool Valley, with a bustling & established restaurant scene. Come summer, the restaurant will spill out onto a spacious terrace a stones throw from the shore, and a warm interior for the colder months. Whether it’s an afternoon with friends or a warm night filled with laughter, Balinese House is the perfect spot to eat, drink, and let the evening drift into something special. We hope you’ll bring your appetite!

Really enjoyed our meal last night! We each had a different main course (Indonesian and Thai) and everyone agreed their meal was tasty, made with really fresh ingredients and good value for money. The waitress is very new so wasn’t able to answer all of our questions however she was charming and found the answers quickly. We ate rather early (6.15) so the restaurant was rather empty however I’m sure it fills up as the evening progresses.

So glad we have this in Brighton

My friend was talking about how Brighton is great for food but he wishes there was a Balinese restaurant, then this place opened! Tried it for the first time last night and it was spectacular. The food is so fresh and delicious, and the staff are wonderful. My veggie friend said it was the best tofu they’ve ever had, and that’s not something people say very much! Can’t wait to come back, highly recommend.
